PrismTech a Leader in High Performance Middleware

PrismTech is a market leader in high performance distributed middleware for mission-critical systems, in industry sectors including aerospace and defense, commercial telecommunications (Network Management) and financial services. Key to PrismTech’s success and leadership position are the following:
• Breadth and quality of our middleware solutions
• World-class Technical Support and Professional Services
• Flexible business models that can be tailored to each customer’s specific requirements

Standards-based, High-Performance Middleware

The Object Management Group's (OMG's) Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA®) middleware standard enables software applications to invoke operations on distributed objects without concern for object location, programming language, operating system platform, communication protocols, interconnections or hardware. CORBA remains the most successful open standard in supporting distributed heterogeneous mission critical systems that require exceptional levels of performance and QoS.

PrismTech's CORBA solutions span the full spectrum of requirements from high-end enterprise systems to the smallest real-time embedded applications. They support all major operating environments and provide the widest programming language support available, including tool suites for C, C++, Java™, Ada, and even VHDL.

Field Proven

OpenFusion® is PrismTech's premier suite of CORBA products and is used on many projects by customers developing mission-critical software systems. These systems typically have diverse and complex architectural requirements, including advanced functionality and QoS needs, heterogeneous programming language and platform support, and constrained form factor (footprint).

The OpenFusion product suite consists of:
Open-Source Enterprise ORBsTAO (C++ language) and JacORB (Java language).
• Advanced CORBA Services (COS)Naming Service, Trading Service, Notification Service, Log Service, and Time Service.
• OpenSource CORBA Component Model (CCM) – implementation of the OMG's Lightweight CCM (C++ and Java™ languages) and Deployment and Configuration (D&C) standards, with supporting Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Model-driven engineering (MDE) development tools.
• Specialized Real-time ORBs – RTOrb Java and Ada Editions.
• Specialized embedded middleware for General Purpose Processor (GPP), Digital Signal Processor (DSP), and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) environments – e*ORB C++ and C Editions and ICO, the Integrated Circuit ORB.
• Complementary advanced security solution – Xtradyne I-DBC providing secure CORBA firewall traversal and full Authentication, Authorization, Auditing and Administration mechanisms.
• Seamless cohabitation with OpenSplice DDS.

Quality-of-Service (QoS)-enabled SOA Solutions for Defense and Telecommunications

For Net-centric C2 and C4ISR systems, PrismTech provides the most complete development and operating environment for large-scale defense, aerospace, and federal integration projects.

PrismTech's QoS-enabled SOA platforms, Model Driven Engineering Tools, and Distributed Real-time & Embedded (DRE) systems solutions are used by the worlds’ largest defense and aerospace contractors, including BAE Systems, Boeing, EADS, General Dynamics, Harris, ITT Industries, Lockeed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Rockwell Collins, Selex, and Thales.

On large-scale defense projects, such as the US Navy's DDG 1000 program, PrismTech’s CORBA technology is the number one choice. For example, PrismTech’s Realtime Java ORB (RTOrb Java) was selected by Raytheon to support their implementation of the Navy's Open Architecture Computing Environment (OACE). "We're excited to bring PrismTech's real-time middleware technology to the DDG 1000 program," stated Ed Geisler, vice president and DDG 1000 program manager for Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. "OA isn't just about technical solutions. It's also about an open business model that features competition. The selection of PrismTech came through a process which uses formal evaluation to ensure that the Navy gets the best value. There are several products in this technology space and it was determined that the offering from PrismTech, a privately held company, provides the best value to the Navy."

In the commercial Telecommunications sector PrismTech offers a wide range of distributed CORBA solutions for wireless and wireline telecoms infrastructure providers, network equipment manufacturers and third party OSS vendors.

PrismTech's range of CORBA products are used as a key enabler of Telecom OSS applications based on the latest standards from the Telemanagement Forum (TMF) and Third Generation Partner Program (3GPP). For systems based on TMF's NGOSS (New Generation Operations Systems and Software) core architectural principles and specific interface standards such as the Multi Technology OS Interface (MTOSI) only PrismTech's OpenFusion range of CORBA based QoS-enabled SOA platforms can support the increasing complexity and diversity in equipment, networking and OSS, while being able to deal with an increasing volume of information that must be distributed efficiently in order to manage an end-to-end Telecom OSS – the right information at the right time. PrismTech QoS-enabled SOA platforms are able to support stringent QoS and reliability requirements of your OSS while ensuring compliance with key Telecom standards.

PrismTech lists leaders such as Alcatel-Lucent, Cienna, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung, and Telcordia amongst its customers in the telecoms and datacoms sectors.

Commitment to Innovation

No other middleware vendor invests as much in new and innovative CORBA technology compared to PrismTech. For heterogeneous mission-critical systems with complex requirements PrismTech continues to produce products that raise the bar with respect to the types of environment that can be supported by our standards based high performance integration solutions. For example, recent innovations have included developing the world’s first hardware ORB (OpenFusion ICO) to support FPGA and ASIC devices, and a Real-time Java ORB (OpenFusion RTOrb Java) that for the first time delivers the benefits of the Java platform to the Real-time Mission Systems community.

PrismTech's commitment to support the CORBA community means that we are constantly improving our products and trying to find new ways to make the development of complex distributed applications easier. Our strategy of combining Model Driven Engineering (MDE) techniques with our high performance CORBA middleware has led directly to the development of the first commercially viable CORBA Component Model implementation. For complex applications OpenFusion CCM offers great productivity advantages and enables users to efficiently support the full development and deployment lifecycle of a CORBA system.
